When the team at Samuelson Elementary decided to hold an event to share information about programs and resources available to its multiethnic community, they asked New Foundation Church to help with refreshments. As the sun rose Tuesday morning, NFC provided coffee, a variety of juices, cookies, and donut holes for the event, which focused on Samuelson families that do not speak English. Samuelson staff and Bilingual Family Liaisons (BFLs) from Hoover High School were also on hand to meet families and build connections with the community.
Providing refreshments at the event aligns with NFC’s commitments to community, multiethnicity, and multiplication. More than that, though, it fulfills Christ’s mandate of Matthew 10:42 to give “a cup of cold water” (or hot coffee) in Jesus’ name.
