If you have been around New Foundation Church for any length of time, you have heard of our +1 Initiative. This is a commitment to identify people that we know who do not yet know Jesus so that we can pray for them daily, engage them in some meaningful way each week, and invited them into faith and fellowship as often as we possibly can. So who is your +1? Here are some tips for picking a great +1.
- If you know someone who does not know Jesus, and your heart aches at the thought of them not being in heaven, then that should be your +1.
- Ideally, your +1 will be someone that you see on a regular basis and already have a relationship with.
- If you don’t know anyone who doesn’t know Jesus, then ask God to open your eyes to the people you see every day who don’t know him! It could be the barista at your favorite coffee shop, the guy you always see in the breakroom at work, or the homeless guy you meet while walking down by the river. Then, the next time you see that person, strike up a conversation and meet your new +1!
- It is completely acceptable to have more than one +1! In fact, we are praying that everyone has at least 5 +1s!
- Don’t be surprised or discouraged if your +1 doesn’t respond immediately. It will take time to build a relationship with them and build receptivity within them.
- When your +1 gets saved, it’s time to help them identify their +1s. And then go find another +1 for yourself!
